Description

Trial trenches dug in advance of the construction of a marina on the Harleyford manor estates cut into a partially filled-in depression which was visible as a surface earthwork feature. It was a wide, shallow feature filled with silt and may have been a pond. Shallow and irregular features may be tree-throw holes. There were also a few channels cut into the gravel, though most of these, if not all, were thought to be natural (B11).
Low Grounds Farm, [pit] nearest lock on south side of Harleyford Lane is definitely a gravel pit (B15).
