Description
Evaluation trial trenching carried out by AS&C in May 2007 in advance of building extension identified the remains of two stone paved surfaces (one cobbled, the other of stone slabs) and the lowest course of a wall of large stone cobbles with a sandy mortar, all apparently aligned NE-SW. Interpreted as yards and property boundary associated with a row of houses fronting Moreton Street, shown on late 18th and late 19th century maps. All features had been disturbed and truncated by a series of late 19th or early 20th century rubbish pits and bt modern service trenches. See report for detail (B3).
