Description

Springfields in Great Kingshill was described by Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur 'Bomber' Harris as "a pleasant old-fashioned house" and it became the residence of the Air Officer Commanding in Chief, and was eventually purchased by the Air Ministry in 1951. It has since been occupied by successive Commanders in Chief, but is now likely to be sold (B1).
