Description

Proposed defences of anti-tank island at Aylesbury recorded in 1940 Southern Command Home Defence Programme Headquarters Papers (PRO ref: WO 199/48). Not clear if any of proposals ever implemented (B1).
Anti-tank islands were designed to provide intensively defended nodes - usually in urban areas, in the event of enemy invasion. NGR to centre of Aylesbury (Temple Square).
