Description

Walkelin, Bishop of Winchester holds [West] Wycombe. It answers for 19 hides. Land for 23 ploughs; in lordship 5 hides; 3 ploughs there. 27 villagers with 8 smallholders have 19 ploughs. 7 slaves; 3 mills at 20s; 1 fishery at 1,000 eels; meadow for 7 ploughs; woodland, 1,000 pigs. Total value £15; when acquired £10; before 1066 £12. This manor was and is for the supplies of the monks of the Church of Winchester. Stigand held it before 1066.
In [West] Wycombe Roger holds 1/2 hide from the Bishop [of Bayeux]. Land for 1 plough; it is there, with 1 smallholder. The value is and was 7s; before 1066, 10s. A man of Archbishop Stigand's held this land; he could not sell or grant outside his manor of Wycombe as the Hundred testifies.
In [West] Wycombe William holds 1/2 hide from the Count [of Mortain]. Land for 1/2 plough; it is there, with 1 smallholder. The value is and always was 10s. 1 Freeman, a man of Archbishop Stigand's held this land. He could not grant or sell outside the manor of Wycombe, in 1066, as the Hundred testifies (B1).
