Description

Modern furniture retail warehouse - vacant as at 2006 - with a name board of Highly Sprung, a furniture-making firm with a factory nearby in Abercrombie Avenue. Date of this building is unknown but looks around 1960s. The 1910 Valuation Survey and Freer's Directories of 1905 and 1909 show the site was owned and occupied as a house (12 Oakridge Road) and chairmaking factory by Jabez Harris probably built around 1900. Not known when that use ceased. The house was described as a detached cottage. There were two brick and timber chair shops with slate roofs, a brick office and staining shed with slate roofs and a corrugated iron shed (B1).
