Description

A north-south boundary ditch approx 2.7m wide and approx 0.7m deep, recut by a later ditch approx 0.9m wide and 0.6m deep, a parallel shallow gully approx 0.5m wide and approx 0.2m deep and a small post-hole approx 0.2m deep and approx 0.2m diameter were recorded during a watching brief carried out in April and May 2006 by Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd during groundworks to create an ornamental lake. None of the features were datable and a flint scraper recovered from a ditch fill is probably residual. The ditches and gully are probably related to a field boundary shown on late 19th and 20th century OS maps (B1).
Field boundary visible in 2003 vertical APs.
