Description

Churchyard at NGR. Extended to west in 1960s or 1970s (B6).
Evaluation test pitting carried out by Oxford Archaeology in November 2003 in advance of proposed new vestry to north of nave, identified a number of grave cuts (some modern), only one of which (an extended supine burial orientated E-W of a poorly-preserved adult female skeleton of probable 12th to mid 13th century date) was excavated. Pottery recovered included residual late Saxon and early Medieval wares, suggesting domestic activity in the vicinity (B8).
