Description
Watching brief carried out in March and December 2005 during installation of drains around the west end of the church recorded a number of disarticulated human bones and other medieval to modern finds. Excavation for a soakway resulted in the discovery of a possible charnel deposit with bones representing the remains of up to six individuals, including a child. Two burials in possibly waterlogged coffins were left in-situ at the base of the soakaway. Pottery recovered from the watching brief included a few sherds of late 11th century to mid 13th century sandy wares (B9).
