Description

Initial (reconnaisance) survey carried out by David Radford of BCC in April 2005 identified 1 boundary bank, at least 1 internal boundary ditch and bank,1 saw pit, 5 quarries/pits, a raised 'terrace' was visible near the car park and a subrectangular quarry pit or military structure near the railway cutting [see CAS ]. Traces of beech coppice were also noted. The woodland comprised mixed deciduous trees with high canopy and young spruce plantations in the centre of the wood (B1).
