Description

Site of former brick-revetted village pond visible as a curving parchmark about 17m in diameter and recorded by Mike Farley in July 2005. Remains of brick wall two-bricks deep, was visible where the turf was eroded. Pond is shown on 1st edition 6-inch OS map (surveyed 1878-9) and also shown in historic photos of 1902-1930 published by Quainton Village Society as 'Quainton - then and now'. Apparently the pond was filled in about 1960 (B1).
