Description
Roger holds Weston [Turville] from the Bishop [of Bayeux]. It answers for 20 hides. Land for 17 ploughs; in lordship 3; a fourth possible. 12 villagers have 12 ploughs; a further 1 possible. 12 slaves; 4 mills at 33s 4d; meadow for 10 ploughs and 6s too; woodland, 100 pigs. Total value £15; when acquired £8; before 1066 £15. Of the land of this manor Earl Leofwin held 9 1/2 hides; Godric the Sheriff, 3 1/2 hides, as one manor; also two of Godric's men, 3 1/2 hides; a man of Earl Tosti's, 2 hides; two of Earl Leofwin's men, 1 1/2 hides; all could sell. The Bishop of Lisieux has 1 of these hides from the Bishop of Bayeux. Land for 1 plough; but no plough there. The value is and always was 5s. The men whom Roger holds in Weston did not belong to Earl leofwin before 1066 (B1).
