Description

The Bishop [of Bayeux] holds Shalstone himself, 5 hides, as one manor. Land for 5 ploughs; in lordship 2. 4 villagers with 1 smallholder have 2 ploughs; a third possible. 3 slaves; woodland, 50 pigs. Value 30s; when acquired 20s; before 1066 £4. Two thanes held this manor as two manors; Godric 3 hides and Wiglaf 2 hides; they could sell to whom they would.
In Shalstone Robert holds 4 hides from Robert [d'Oilly] as one manor. Land for 5 ploughs; in lordship 2 ploughs. 4 villagers with 3 smallholders have 3 ploughs. 4 slaves; woodland, 50 pigs. Value of this land, 40s; when acquired 30s; before 1066, 60s. Azor son of Toti held this manor; he could sell (B1).
