Description

The White Horse Inn is of two storeys, built in the 16th century probably on a rectangula plan but has been enlarged. The front is covered with modern plaster and the walls at the back almost entirely re-faced. The roof is tiled. On the ground floor is a wide, open fireplace containing a large spit, worked by a fan in the chimney. On the wall of the dining room a 16th century inscription in black-letter has been recently uncovered. The roof is of double queen-post construction and has been heightened. Condition good [1912](B1).
Wall painting of black letter inscription framed in vine leaves, in a room on the ground floor , destroyed before 1933 when the building was converted to the British Legion headquarters (B2).
Building demolished in 1960s.
