A post-medieval gravel pit is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field adjacent Hill Farm, Hollingdon and centred at SP 87292 27315, the feature is documented on the 1881 1st Edition OS map as an ‘old gravel pit’, suggesting it had ceased to be exploited by that time. Aerial photographs taken in 2019 show that the extraction site remains extant, having an access road, yard and a building constructed within it (2-4).
