'Sand Pit' marked on 1st Edition 25-inch OS map (Bucks sheet 20.4, surveyed 1880), marked on 1st edition 6-inch OS map (Bucks sheet 20, surveyed 1880); edge of pit indicated by hachures on all subsequent edition 6-inch OS maps from 1900 to the late 1950s/early 1960s (B1).

Probable post-medieval coprolite workings are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located at Rammamere Farm and centred at SP 92231 30758, the irregularly shaped workings cover an area of about 46,108 square metres. Documentary evidence indicates that the workings were in operation at ‘rammy mare field’ during the late 1880s, employing local agricultural labourers as coprolite diggers because of better pay and employment conditions until the seams were worked out. Remote sensing data indicates disturbed land all around the farm (2-5).
