A chalk pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 370m south east of Buckland Wharf, Buckland, and centred at SP 89927 11368. The pit is sub oval and measures approximately 60x35m at its largest and is cut in to underlying solid geology of West Melbury Marly Chalk Formation, mainly used for beer stone, clunch and lime. It is visible as a small wooded area in 1949 but is clearly visible as an earthwork on lidar visualisations. (2-4)
