An extractive pit of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 700m west of Thornton, on the south side of the River Great Ouse, Thornton, and centred at SP 74447 35738. It is 95x40m and almost triangular in shape; the underlying solid geology is of White Limestone. (2-3)
