Description
Dimensions - Length 42m, Width 13m.
INN RETAINS 1 ANCIENT FEATURE: PANELLED CEILING. HOUSE REFERRED TO IN QUARTER SESSIONS, 1696. ORIG CALLED SARACENS HEAD? (B1).
The Bull's Head Hotel is two-storeyed, and was built in the C17th on a half-H shape with the wings projecting towards the East. The main block was almost entirely rebuilt with brick in the C18th, and is now covered with cement. Some of the original timber-framing remains at the rear. The wings have been altered, enlarged and covered with cement. The roofs are tiled. In the yard at the rear of the hotel is a two-storeyed barn built of timber and brick, and probably contemporary with the house. The roof is tiled. Condition - Of the hotel, good; of the barn, poor. The hotel is not depicted on the OS 1250 map of 1972. Demolished (B6).
This is mentioned by Pevsner, and so was still extant in the 1950's (B7).
