'GRAVEL PIT' SHOWN ON 6IN OS 1ST EDITION MAP (SHEET 45, SURVEYED 1880); 25IN OS 1ST EDITION MAP (SHEET 45.4, SURVEYED 1876); & 6IN OS MAP (SURVEYED 1930S) (B1).
Circular mark seen on air photograph. Field investigation found it to be a ploughed out depression, probably an old chalk pit (B2).
