Description

Retirement village constructed in the 1950s by Licensed Victuallers National Homes. Housing was provided in semi-detatched bungalows, with a nursing home and social centre. The first phase of development in the 1950s and 1960s comprised 144 bungalows and the social centre. In the 1970s 39 additional bungalows were built along with a Nursing Home, which was extended in the 1980s. The social centre comprised a pub, restaurant, shop, post office, administration office and function rooms. (B1).
