Description

The Abbot [of St Peter's of Westminster] holds 8 hides in East Burnham himself. Land for 6 ploughs; in lordship 4 hides; 1 plough there. 6 villagers with 1 smallholder have 5 ploughs. Meadow for 6 ploughs; woodland, 100 pigs. Total value 100s 28d; when acquired, the same; before 1066 £6. Three thanes held this manor before 1066; they could sell. However these three paid 5 ora a year as a customary due to the monastery of Staines. One of them, Wulfric, had 3 hides and 3 virgates; the second, Edric of Marlow's man, had 3 hides and 1 virgate; the third had 1 hide; he was Saewulf's man (B1).
