Description

Royal Observer Corps monitoring post, opened September 1959, closed October 1968 and subsequently demolished. In 1998 no trace of the post was visible (B1).

A Royal Observer Corps Listening Post of Cold War date is visible on historic aerial photographs as extant structures and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on the north side of the golf course at Weston Turville, and centred at SP 85203 11981. In 1967 the fence surrounding the ROC Post and possibly the entrance are visible on aerial photographic coverage but by 1971 there is nothing to see. After this date trees are visible in the corner of the field but nothing else is clear. Information from the website says it was closed in 1968 and demolished, but not filled in. (3-6)
