Description

Furniture factory and showroom at Spring Gardens, occupied by J.C & M.P Smith, a firm established in the late 1950s on Oxford Road, High Wycombe and which moved to this site in 1961. The two-storey brick showroom lies to the north of a new road called Princes Gate nad is only accessible from Princes Gate. Part has a pitched roof which appears to be covered in corrugated asbestos. The remainder, presumably a later extension, has a flat roof. The three-storey factory, to the south of and below Princes Gate, has a flat roof and is reached via a service road off London Road.. The firm specialises in fireside chairs. Both sites have been plotted on map. Photographs and report in B1.
The building itself was completely damaged during the 1966 fire and this was not the original building. All of the machinery had been removed by the vendor in 2015. Report contains contains photos taken in 1966 showing the fire damage (B3).
