- (Former Type) FURNITURE FACTORY (19th Century to Modern - 1899 AD to 1988 AD)
Description
Two-storey red brick and slate former furniture factory originally built in 1899. The building was damaged by fire and rebuilt in 1988 although the exact extent of the rebuilding is not known. Inspection shows that old bricks were reused. As at 2004 used as an office. Land was sold in 1899 to Richard Graefe and factory erected in the same year. Graefe was one of the leading High Wycombe veneer and marquetry specialists and he later moved his business to Priory Road (factory on the site of Marks & Spencer's). J. Bailey & Sons, chair manufacturers, acquired the factory in 1922.
Building was damaged by fire prior to 1979 and rebuilt and extended thereafter. Converted to offices in 1988.
