Description
Group of buildings comprising the furniture factory of Stewart Linford at Kitchener Works. Detached brick and slate bay-fronted dwelling house built c.1900 and original three-storey red brick and slate factory aligned parallel to Kitchener Road, also c.1900. 1930s two-storey cabinet shop is end-on to road. 1990s brick-based and metal two-storey building is used as a workshop and showroom. Timber still stored in the yard. Yard partly covered over and contains a kiln and conversion shop. First known occupier was William Styles Ellis who set up business here in 1901. In 1922 Birch and Alpe started making furniture here. Later occupied by Tyzacks and, since 1983, by Stewart Linford. [Sources, report and photographs] (B1).
