Site of a prisoner of war camp, described by the International Red Cross as a German working company camp (camp no.684) (B2).
English Heritage unable to identify location, but 'Hitcham Park Camp' with a scatter of buildings around an access track is marked on late 1950s OS 6-inch map and huts are visible in 1946 and 1947 RAF aerial photos. A small number of Nissen huts within the farmyard at Hitcham Farm are also visible on a 1946 RAF AP, but had apparently gone by 1947 (B3).
