Plan Form - CIRCULAR
TUMULUS OR BOUNDARY MOUND, C.45FT DIAMETER AT BASE, & ENCIRCLED BY SLIGHT DITCH. COUNTY BOUNDARY A FEW YARDS N OF MOUND (B1).
MARKED AT NGR (B2).
PRESUMED MIDDLE/LATE BRONZE AGE BARROW, EXCAVATED BY W F GRIMES. DITCH FILL OF SILT & GRAVEL. CHARCOAL: POSSIBLE CREMATION? (PLAN & DETAIL). NGR '670419' WRONG? (B3).


SP 670419 Bell-barrow 90ft in diameter, maximum height about 4 ft with ditch 15ft wide and 18 ins deep. Excavations of the NW quadrant in 1941 (see plan) revealed a disturbed central area consisting of an irregular lobed pit containing scraps of Md pottery. The filling of the disturbed area was mixed clay containing much finely broken charcoal which may have been derived from a Middle-Late BA cremation (B3).
