Description

Evaluation trial trenching carried out by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2003 identified a probable pit or pond, at least 1.45m deep, at the north-western extent of trench 4. The fill contained a small quantity of building material and two sherds of post-medieval pottery. Feature interpreted as a pond or quarry pit infilled in the post-medieval/early modern period. A number of broadly comparable features are visible within the immediate locality on 1947 AP (B1).
