Description

An inquisition post mortem of 1299 mentions a park called 'Herteleye' belonging to the Earl of Corwall's manor of Cippenham. In 1299 the park had a parker who had an allowance of 10 1/4 d. but its later history is more obscure. The 2 acre moated enclosure at Hartley Court could well have been the home of the parker (B7). NGR to Hartley Court Moat.
