Description

A charter granting a Wednesday market and an annual fair (vigil, feast and morrow) to celebrate James the Apostle (25th July) was granted by King Henry VI to Nicholas Oselbury, the warden, and the scholars of the college of St Mary of Winchester in Oxford (New College) on 3rd July 1447. The market's value in the lay subsidy of 1335 was £70 (B1).
