Description

Two ditches were noted closer to the sewage works. The first (9002) was 3.2m wide and 1.10m deep and had a v-shaped profile. The lower fill contained 10 sherds from an almost complete ceramic vessel of the Late Iron Age. The second ditch (9005), appearing to run parallel to the first, measured 4m wide and 0.9m deep and had a broad u-shaped profile. No artefacts were recovered from this feature (1).

Cropmarks of two conjoined large enclosures of uncertain date visible on aerial photographs at SU9226 8091. The primary enclosure is triangular with a large oblong secondary enclosure with an entrance to the south with a possibl internal ditch opposite the entrance. This enclosure measures approximately 85m in length. The very faint cropmarks of two or three rectilinear enclosures on a different alignment can be seen coinciding with the NW corner of the large oblong enclosure (2).
