Description

1825 map shows 'Brewery' approx at NGR (B1).
A long established brewery belonging to Messrs Lucas & Lovett (B2).
'Brewery' at NGR (B3).
Brewery buildings now a house. Kelly's Directory show brewery was still operating in 1939, by J W Gurbey (B4).
Not clear when brewery established but Joseph Lucas aquired a malting in 1732 and was aquiring local pubs from 1798. Business sold to William Kempton Gurney in 1875. Brewing ceased in 1939 and the building converted to a house around 1971.
