Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes two quarries in the western New Park. One at SP68023627 is 50m long x 40m wide x 1m deep, the other at SP67483628 is 20m long x 8m wide x 1m deep. Both quarries cut the ridge and furrow and hence are probably post medieval in date possibly supplying raw materials for the drives in the vicinity (1).
