Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes a small quarry showing as a scoop in the hillside, some 30m diameter. At its northern edge, it cuts ridge and furrow and hence is likely to have a post medieval date although it is not marked on the estate map of 1843 or the OS maps from 1880 and 1900. It is thought that its proximity to the Boycott Manor brickworks may also be significant (1).
