Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes the remains of brick walls, capped with stone, lying on the Dad stream. Much brick and stone lies on the stream bed from the ruined walls which stand to a height of 0.9m. One of the walls seems to form an arch. The sheep wash is clearly shown on the 1843 estate map and on the 1922 OS map. The surviving walls are part of the lower sluice. A slight hollow is noted to the west and may be the result of agricultural activity. The planting on the west side of the stream is not shown on the 1880 OS map (1).
