Description

The English Heritage survey of Stowe undertaken in 2001 notes an irregular scarp and a sub-rectangular hollow interpreted as a sand/gravel quarry. The hollow measures 34m long x 16m wide x 1m deep. The scarp is about 80m long and is up to 2m high. The quarry cuts the ridge and furrow and so is probably post-medieval. It is not shown on the 1843 estate map nor the 1880 and 1900 OS maps. (20)
