- GRAVEL PIT (18th Century to 19th Century - 1700 AD? to 1899 AD)
Description
The National Trust Survey of Stowe undertaken in 1989 notes for small quarries (50m c 3m) which are interpreted as early quarry workings. One pit has been converted to a pond (1).
The quarry appears to cut the broad ridge and furrow in this area and hence are likely to be post-medieval in date (2).
