Description

A park at Waddesdon is first mentioned in 1374 when it belonged to the Earl of Devon. A chief mansion and land including a park were mentioned in 1477, and in 1616 Lord Dormer was granted liberty of park. No further documentary references to the park, but it is suggested that the parkland at Waddesdon Manor includes the medieval site (B1).
The Fortescue map of 1776 shows 'Old Park' to the NW of Lodge Hill (B2).
NGR to centre of 'Old Park'.
Desk based assessment concluded that: The impact of the development proposals, particualrly the car park, will be fo great benefit to the estate and the village as a whole. See report for further details (B3).
Geophysical survey, targeted on projected route of Roman Akeman Street, failed to definitively locate the location of the Roman road. See report for details (B4).
