Description

430 sherds of pottery were recovered from fieldwalking with the concentration of medieval pottery appearing in the westernmost corner close to the hollow way (CAS 6817) and where settlement was propsed from the finds in CAS 6816. The quantity of pottery reduces the further away from this point one moves and perhaps suggests a system of infields and outfields. The northernmost part of the field contains little pottery. It may represent the landuse boundary with the woodland of Little Oaken Copse once having been more extensive. The Romano-British pottery finds probably represents manuring scatters. (1)
