Description
287 sherds of pottery were retrieved during fieldwalking. The assemblage was dominated by Romano-British wares, which were found in a concentration to the west of a derelict barn in the centre of the survey area, perhaps suggesting a Romanised settlement site. The medieval pottery was scattered across the field and indicates the field's use as open ploughland for Leckhampstead in medieval times. The quantity is greater than fields in neighbouring Akeley and would seem to confirm a large population centre (B1).
