Description

This field produced 37 sherds of pottery from all periods, indicating cultivation at all periods. The amount of medieval pottery perhaps suggest that this was once part of the village system, rather than just used to service the Manor of Stockholt. Aerial photography shows ridge and furrow. The difference in pottery concentrations from the field on the other side of the post-parliamentary enclosure hedge (CAS 6806) perhaps suggests that this hedge marks the former boundary of the original Stockholt estate or park.
