Description

A large field, which was once 11 smaller fields, and which has clear distribution patterns in the 203 sherds of pottery recovered. Both Roman and Medieval pottery were found predominantly in the western half of the field. This is interpreted as the presence of a Romano-British farmstead. Foxcote Wood once possibly extended to the line of the footpath that now runs across the centre of the field and at once time regenerated over the Roman fields. One cluster of Roman pottery was found at SP 703 369, and another to the north west of this site. It was noted that there was remarkably little medieval pottery (B1).
