Description
The site lies on the historic street frontage within the Saxon and Medieval settlement of Wing, 100m east of All Saints church. The enclosure map of 1798 shows a small building on the street frontage (Smith's shop and close) and that the land was owned by Lord Chesterfield. The 1899 2nd edition OS shows the Parish Rooms built on the site and set slightly back from the street frontage. The rooms had disappeared by 1925. An archaeological evaluation carried out on the site revealed only 19th century features probably associated with the former Parish Rooms (B1).
