FINDS FROM FIELD 2 DISCOVERED BY MR T CLARK. NOTHING INTRINSICALLY VERY EARLY, LOOKS LIKE A LATE MEDIEVAL ASSEMBLAGE POSSIBLY GOING ON UNTILL THE C17TH. COULD BE AREA DEMOLISHED DURING CIVIL WAR ACTIVITIES AT HILLESDEN. FINDS IDENTIFIED BY MIKE FARLEY: LOTS OF LEAD CAME SCATTERED ALL OVER; PIECE OF CERAMIC ROOFTILE; 2 POST-MED SHERDS; LARGE FE NAIL WITH RECTANGULAR HEAD C.2" ACROSS; PEWTER 2 HEMISPHERES JOINED AT APEX VESSEL BASE; CU ALLOY SPUR COMPLETE APART FROM SPUR ON WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN A ROWEL; PB SPINDLE WHORL/WEIGHT; FLAT CU ALLOY RULE IN SEVERAL PIECES GRADUATED IN C.3 QUARTER INCH UNITS WITH STAMPED NUMBERS CERTAINLY TO NUMBER 14, SWIVEL RULE OF 2 PARTS WITH SWIVEL PIVOT SURVIVING; CU ALLOY BUCKLE MOUNT IN THIN METAL WITH CHASED DECORATION, 1 RIVET, LATE MEDIEVAL; CU ALLOY FIGURE-OF-8 BUCKLE, LATE MEDIEVAL; CU ALLOY CAST DOMED STUD WITH RADIAL SPOKE DESIGN; CU ALLOY TRIANGULAR CAST MOUNT WITH 3 ATTACHMENT HOLES AND SOCKET FOR ROD, LOOKS LIKE CURTAIN ROD BUT SOCKET AT AN ANGLE; PEWTER, SPOON BOWL, BUT LARGE; CU ALLOY KEY PLATE FLAT ON ONE SIDE, CAST, RELIEF ON THE OTHER, CAST WITH PRANCING HORSE RIGHT AND CROWNED FIGURE WITH A LONG BEARD, FLORAL DESIGN INFILL, BOX MOUNT?; 3 FRAGMENTS FROM BELL METAL CAULDRONS; CU ALLOY SCABBARD MOUTH MOUNT, OPENWORK PELTA DESIGN; CU ALLOY HINGED PEARDROP SHAPE, HALF ONLY, SEAL BOX?, ?DATE; CU ALLOY RECTANGULAR BUCKLE x2; CU ALLOY DOMED STUD HEAD; FRAGMENT PEWTER STAMPED '?[L] P', RELIEF DESIGN ON OTHER SIDE; LEAD BUTTON WITH LOOP AND RADIATE DESIGN FRONT; 5 THIN CU ALLOY SHEET WITH RIVETS FROM CAULDREN/SKILLET ETC; SILVER COIN, ?GROAT, NOT CERTAINLY IDENTIFIED BUT OF GENERAL HENRY VI TYPE (B1).
