Description
Undated ditch, aligned NW-SE, 1.4m wide and 0.29m deep recorded during evaluation trial trenching by Wessex Archaeology in March 2002. 2 fills of silty loam were identified. Possibly a relatively recent drainage ditch? (B1).
Human remains discovered during groundworks in July 2003. Subsequent salvage recording and excavations by Wessex Archaeology identified 3 Romano-British infant burials within the terminus of a ditch and in an adjacent pit. A further ditch terminus, 3 additional pits and a layer of late Romano-British domestic rubbish suggests that the burials were on the periphery of a farmstead (B2).
NGR to burials.
