Description

Possible course of Roman road or trackway reported by Tom Clark to BCM. Tom believes it runs E-W from Akeman Street, NE of Putlowes Farm to NW of the farm and can be seen as metalling in ploughsoil. A small pipeline installed in Autumn 1994 cut the line of the possible road producing big lumps of limestone, which Tom saw when the trench had been backfilled. Course of 1994 pipeline labelled P1 on map, course of road/trackway labelled R4 (B11).
