Description

Tom Clark metal detecting find. C10 century copper alloy strap end. L. 30mm W. 7mm thickness 1mm. Complete, slightly curved along length, 2 rivet holes, split to receive strap, bifid at one end animal head at other. Decoration below rivets = simple loop filled with semi-circular stamps giving the impression of scales. Pair of lines define rectangular panel area beneath part of which has been recessed, perhaps for an inlay which is missing. Not conserved. Whole enclosed with single line along longitudinal edge (B1).
