Description

At least 2 inhumations found outside 1 Church Way whilst digging a gas pipe trench down west side of the carriageway at Stone. Found at a depth of approx. 2ft in almost pure sand. Alignment roughly N-S. Coroner informed, suggested remains had been pushed outside churchyard by tree roots! Other bodies may have been encountered but not reported. Informant Ray Stone, who lived in Stone at the time (B1).
