Description

Natural hill of sand evidently excavated in shape of basin & lined with burnt clay 3 inches thick. Interior 4 feet in diameter & 2.5 feet deep. Top about 1 foot from surface. Filled with sand, charcoal & coarse, broken pot. Roman & Saxon remains found on sand hill (B1).
Area almost totally dug out except possible hedgerow strip (B5).
